The Weather's Changing

The weather's been something else lately.  One minute the wind is blowing so hard that you can't hold on to your equipment and then the next you can't get enough photos.  Its odd--that's for sure..  The wind has been so brisk and hard to walk in that it almost makes you not want to get out and even look for something to photograph.  The colors here in the south has really been nice.  Lots of reflections around any pond and between the beautiful color of leaves, the rocks and the reflections its hard not to take a photo but then you have the wind which just messy everything up.  The weather has been not really warm but warm enough to get out and want to do something.  The other day we were out racking leaves and got a great big pile of them and our lab of 13 years decided to jump in the middle of them and then just laid down and rolled around in them.  I wanted to take a photo but I knew that by the time I went and got the camera and tripod it would all be over.  Its photos like that that makes you want to cry when you miss them because you know some stock place would have bought it.

Tim Ernst will be giving a slide show at the Winsong church of Christ church in NLR.  It is FREE to he public if you can come we'd love to see you there.

Well its getting late and I have got to head for church.  Hope to see you in the Wilderness.

Busy Month

In October I went to what you call a "HoBo Stew" church function and there were some really neat customs.  The children dressed up for trick or truck and the adults dressed as hobos some better than others.  The took a big pot and each person would bring a can of vegetables and dump into this pot with hot water and meat and they would make what they called "hobo stew"  The neat thing was how they opened there can - they would only cut the lid half way so as to make a handle and use there can as their bowl for eating the soup out of.  This lasted for about two hours and then clean up began.

The Adults would line up all the cars present and load them with candy and treats and the children would to from car to car and receive candy.  This went on till about 10am

The week of October 21 we went to New Hampshire and Vermont and it was wonderful.  We were approximately a week late to see the peek of the Fall colors but that was OK.  We went from place to place looking for covered bridges and boy did we find a lot of them.  These states have outlined maps of those bridges on there National Registrar. There are a lot of Bridges that are not listed and some are harder to find then others.  But is was lots of fun and made our trip worth while.

We also went looking for waterfalls and found three one of which was dry and it was a long ways back to it.  I hiked approximately 2 miles and my husband went probably another half mile and decided it was getting to ruff.  This is just one of the photos we took but it is the best photo I've ever seen of me.  Ha Ha

Our photo club is have a contest and we must present a photo of fire.  It does not matter what the photo is about or how good it is just as long it is of fire.   At our Christmas's party we will have a drawing for all those who have turned in at least 4 photo for the year and your name will be entered into a monthly drawing as well as a Yearly drawing.

See you in the Wilderness.  Enjoy

Fall Colors

This will be a great weekend for Fall Colors.  I will be heading to the Ozarks just like a lot of other photographers.  I bet you wont be able to get close to the Elk in Ponca.  Remember if you park there the rule is your tires cannot be on the white line of the road or the police can give you a ticket.  Be sure and watch not only for people but where you park as well.

Have you noticed the abundance of acorns this year.  From what I remember from working at the Forest Commission is that one year only one type of Oaks put out acorns and the next year the Red Oaks join them so this must be the year that all acorn bearing trees are putting out.  The other thing I've noticed is that the acorns are not full of holes so either the worm has not come out and is being lazy or else he is dead.  Squirrels love these little worms and I sure depends on them for body fat to survive the winter.

It seems that this month has gone buy so fast.  I made plans to go to the Ozark and to Okahloma this weekend and did not realize that it was the same weekend until I went to make reservations and realized the dates were the same--Now I know a month is just not long enough.

Well as you can imagine I got lots to do.  Not only for shooting photos but getting ready for Haloween which also slipped up on me.  Hope to see you in the wilderness and watch for those Hunters.

Lightroom 5

I'm learning Lightroom 5 and it is not as easy as Lightroom 3.  I've manage to duplicate a lot of my photos and have missed up on my backups.  I know this is a good program but some of it can be very complicated as well.  I wish I had someone to do all this stuff and let me go out into the Wilderness and let me just shoot photos Thats what I love.

Next week I will be heading for New Hampshire and Vermont I can't wait to show you some of the photos.  Covered Bridges and Fall Colors Here We Come! ! !

The Universe

Even though all is well in the Universe things are happening!

Well!  my granddaughter has started moving everything in to her college dorm and even though I know its a good thing for her to be own her on I don't like the idea either.  Things are going to be different for her now--lots of changes in her life. My daughter and her family are excited about this journer for her and feels that this will be a good experience for her.  Part of life you know!

My better-half is still in Mexico on a mission trip and will be returning in a few days.  He said the trip had been a success and that all was going will with the little church--its growing.

My son is the youth minister at the local church of christ and he and his wife are doing great the group has really grown in the past year.

My Wilderness is Blooming and I'm so proud.  I've been taking photos like crazy and have several projects that need to be completed as soon as the season/weather is correct. I've been taking lots of photos of a large spider on my deck.  He has now gotten in my way and I'm going to have to move him and I'm sure he is not going to like it. But Oh Well.

If you know the name please let me know my making a comment.  I'd appreciate it a lot.

Cooler Weather

Oh how cold is it going to get.  When it gets to cold I don't like to get outside but I also miss out on some great photos.  The weather is changing and the "Time" will be changing soon so it will be getting darker earlier.  Soon Halloween and dear season will be here.  Those two alone gives us lots of oppertunities.  Fairs and Rodeos are starting up.  Fall Colors and activities are just around the corner.  Thats just for the month of October and then we have Nov. and Dec. to go.  Oh so much to do.  My squirrels are out on the deck looking for their nuts they know that winter is on its way.

See you in the Willderness!

Fall has Begun

Its a beautiful day and a great day for taking photos.  So much as been happening in the last month.  The weather has been co-operating and there should be lots of water for waterfalls.  As soon as the fall colors come in I will be out there looking for the waterfalls.  This stinks about the Buffalo River.  I know Tim Ernest is really upset about this decision since he has a lot of workshop in that area.

In a few weeks we will he leaving for New Hampshire for the fall colors.  I can't wait to go.  From what magazines I've seen it looks like a great place to go with lots of photo opportunity. It will be fun to get away and the ideal of going someplace that I'v never been excites me.

Get out and take some great photos and show them to your friends.  See you in the Wilderness! !

Time to go to work

We we are back from our trip.  We had so much fun and enjoyed every moment of it.  We saw lots of things and places.  Now I'm ready to get to work.  I plan to stay home for a while and enjoy the Wilderness.

This past weekend I went to the seminar that Bedfords put on here in Little Rock (8-3-13).  It was great.  I came away with several new ideas and some new things I would like to implement in my own business I'm just not sure how to work.

Bedford did a great job!  They plan to do this again next year but I don't think it will do as well as this one simply because you can get to much of a good thing.

Our Vacation

Wow! did we have a great time.  Road trips are the way to go.  We saw lots of things and places.  Experiences I will never forget.  We started out looking for sunflowers in Kansas and even though we did not find fields of sunflowers we found lots of sunflowers on the road side.  We meet some wonderful friends that we thoroughly enjoyed and would love to see again.  In Mulvane, KS the big Sunflowers will bloom in September and I shall return to get photos of them.  The couple who owns Luciano's were very friendly and made our visit grand.  Nancy Luciano told us how when her husband drove through Mulvane the fields of Sunflowers where blooming and it reminded him of his hometown.

Look where I also got to go:   Yellowstone--its changed a lot since I was there last--not the scenery but the animals--its hard to get a good photo because they are tired of people and just want to turn there backside to you but once an awhile if your patient long enough you can get a OK shot. We had lots of fun and enjoyed ourselves a lot.  I'll be showing you others as we go  Enjoy your Wilderness.

Its like they were saying:  Come on get it over with!

SUNFLOWERS

A friend of mine told me about all these sunflowers blooming on Hwy 300 so of course I had to go and see them.  Sure enough there are 15 ac.  This man plants them twice a year just for people to enjoy the beauty of them plus he allows you to pick all you want.  Isn't that Great!!  How many people do you know who would do something like this.  The funny thing is I have planned a trip to Kansas to see fields of Sunflowers and that's the only thing I care about seeing.  It has been a dream of mine for many years and I have never got to go so THIS year my husband is going to take me plus when we got married I was planning a trip to Italy.   Jokingly when we saw these the other day he said, "Well! look at this: Sherry got to see Kansas while on her way to Little Italy".   Little Italy is the name of the town in Arkansas where the Sunfowers are and Kansas is noted for its fields of Sunflowers.  I hope that explains it.  Anyway I thought it was appropriate.

Hope your able to go and see these.

Have fun in the Wilderness.

Shooting Fireworks

Look what I did! ! !   We had lots of fun at the river with 25 other photographers.  We had a BLAST!

Rules for Beginners

I know we heard this over and over but sometimes we just forget.I went to a class on how to improve your outdoor photos.  And as I listen I thought how many times have I heard these things before but just don't think of it when I'm out in the field. for instance:  we all know that a large depth of field makes whole image sharp; 2)Be aware of how various lengths effect perspective, Long lenses flatten image wide lenses exaggerate the image, 3) Take a lot of photos, 4) Shoot vertical as well as horizontal. 5) Avoid clutter in our shots. 6) Avoid hot spots and other distracting elements,  7) Pull in tight, 8) Keep your photos simple,  9) Shoot from various positions, 10) be sure to bracket, 11) always be aware of the rule of thirds, 12) Shoot during early morning and late evening when the sun is diffused and low in the horizon, and shoot on overcast days as long as you can remove the sky. 13) Look for repetition and patterns, 14) Remember that no rule is chiseled in stone.  How many times have we heard that.

The weather was kind of strange here: rain some, cloudy some--but not at the same name and mostly hot.  When you go out driving you never know what you will find especially around water ! ! !

Muted Swan
Isn't this a pretty thing.  Its a muted Swan not a Trumpter Swan.  It is over by the Heart Hospital.  I'm so glad they are still there.

I hope you are able to get out and about over the weekend.  Don't forget the fireworks will soon be here and I plan to be there.  Happy Days in the Wilderness.  Enjoy it the best you can.

Things are changing

As of today I will no longer be Southern Nature Photography.  It will be Sherry Clowers Griffin Photography. I will not have to have a paid  "Domain" for it since it is my own name.  When I went on the Internet to see how many Sherry Griffin it said there was over 150 others with that name.  So this should be very interesting indeed.

Today the man is here putting electric post up for the swimming pool.  This was all suppose to start on June 3rd and be completed within 3 days.  It is now June 22nd and I don't have electricity to the pool nor the steps (I purchased) to get into the pool with.  They brought me a deck ladder but it is not attached since I should be getting the others.  This deck ladder is not a problem for me but for the other folks here they don't want to use it. I have been in the pool almost every day and sometimes more than once that day.  I loving it.

At our photo club there were several photos taken of birds from the Huckleby place in Pine Bluff so on Friday I went there and walked the trail hoping to see some of them but I didn't only thing I saw was a couple of squirrels and lots of mosquitoes.  I plan to mark this in my datebook for Spring of 2014 and go there several times or maybe this October I will check it out.

Well its time for me to go and check the pool out.  I hope you have a great day in the Wilderness.

Tripods

TRIPODS

One thing that was highly expressed by each of the Speakers at MAPSYM was to use a TRIPOD regardless of the type.  The pictures will be sharper.  Don’t buy a cheap one like at Walmart and think its going to work--it won’t.   Get a decent one--a sturdy one.  One with strong legs--it don’t have to be heavy (you can hang your bag on it) but it needs to be sturdy.  Don’t complain if the wind moves it—you get what you pay for.  This could be a onetime investment and that’s what it is just like your lens.  Mine is now 17 years old and works great.  Yes mine is heavy (they didn’t make lightweight back then); but, hey!  I’m building muscles.
Its a great day in the Wilderness!  I hope you can get out and enjoy it.

The Pool

The men from Jeff Self Pool’s started on our pool on June 3, but was unable to get very far.  The ground was very wet under the top soil.  My husband jumped up and down on the area and you could see the ground bouncing.  I’d never seen anything like that before.  On the 2nd day they came out and poured cement on top of the area and mixed it in with the dirt so that the area would dry faster.  But who knows maybe this work.  They will be back tomorrow to see what to do next.  They have been putting in pools for like 16 years so I'm sure they have a few tricks up their sleeves.

MAPSYM

Wow! ! !   did I have a great time.  There's nothing like it for a photographer.  3 days of fun and excitement in Eureka Springs, AR.  It was great...  Meet old friends that you only know threw this group plus others who go for the same reason and making new ones.  On Friday night some of us went out and got burgers at one of the local restaurants.  The only fast foods restaurant there is:  a McDonald, a Pizza Hut and a Subway other than that--its sit down restaurants. Hashing over the last couple of years like young teenagers.  I love hearing about some of the things the others have tried, what equipment they've bought and what all they've gotten into--like I said we are like teenagers.   This is the only time we are probably willing on our own to stay up past midnight knowing our first shoot is at 7pm and then we are in classes until 5pm and then a 2 hour break till the next session at 7pm. and then we have a session at 9pm (with live models) until we decide to come back to the hotel that night and then Sunday's the same way it starts at 6:30am (a shoot down by the lake) Classes all day.  This day will last until 7pm.  Because I knew I would be so tired after the evening session and would not feel like driving for 4 hours I booked my room an extra day and boy was I thankful for that.  A few of us became ill on Sunday with colds manily having chills and sore thoats (I'm sure it was due to the wet/damp weather).  A few of my friends went home after lunch that day--mainly because they had to work or other plans for Monday but not me I wanted to stay for the entire thing.  The 4th class for the day was on Lightroom which was what I needed.  The teacher, Emily who was from Bentonville, was very good at explaining how to organize your files and how to set them up but she stopped a midget before I needed her to. Everyone wants to teach about Develope mode and I need more on Library mode.  My goal is to be good enought in Lightroom that I can teach it myself maybe I'll get to go to MAPSYM free would that be nice.

Well, I guess I need to get off of here and go to work in Lightroom.  Besides its time for me to get out into the Wilderness and have some fun.

Windy but nice

As you know we've been having some strange weather in Arkansas.  Just when you think it will be a great day for shooting that's when the wind will start blowing at a high speed or it will decide its going to rain.  Just yesterday I went out to shoot some purple iris and I got all set up with the tripod and lights and the wind began to blow.  I tried to sit it out but finally gave up. As for the temp its been great and I'm glad its finally warmed up.

Today I saw a brown bird that I've not seen before and I been trying to find it in the bird books but with no luck.  It was sitting in our apple tree.  I was told its been seen there several times but just have no idea as to what kind of bird it is.  Its about the size of a robin but brown in color.

My granddaughter will be graduating from OK high school this Saturday  and of course if God be willing I will be there to see it. Her church will be having a special event for their seniors this Sunday so I am planning to stay till Monday and then head for home.  Then on May 31st  I will be headed out to Eureka Springs for Mapsym.  This will be their third event I will be attending.  This event occurs every other year.  I always enjoy this seminar.  They always have great speakers. I don't feel the cost of the seminar is that great.  It cost me more in hotel rooms than the seminar its self.  It will be a great deal of fun and my friend Georgeanna will be there again--it will be her third time as well.

Well my phone has started ringing so I guess its time to get off here and start getting some real work done.

I hope you have a great day in the Wilderness, I plan to.

Never forget your extra equipment

Today I traveled to Garvin Gardens in Hot Springs.  I've been there before and had a splendid time and the flower/landscape was just out of this world.  Its really beautiful.  Several of the club members have been posting on Face Book and other sites how beautiful it was this year but with the cold and rainy weather I just have not made it there.  I decided at the last minute that I would make that trip since the weather was going to be perfect today(at least compared to what it has been).  Well when I got there I got out and scouted the area and felt pleased with what I saw.  First, I went to the chapel to began my photographing but there was a wedding going on so I turned and went down by the creek and thought this would be worth while.  I began to shoot and all of a sudden my camera died completely.  Not only could I not take photos but I could not even manually focus or shoot.  I never dreamed that my battery had died because I know a fresh one in before I left the house and no I did not have an extra one because I had my husband's bag and he never carries anything extra.  So I called Bedfords and talked to a sales rep who knew about Nikons and he said other than the battery he had know idea what it could be.  But I assured him that the battery had charged all night and was fully charged I was sure that's what the camera showed I just know it did.  Well he told me to bring it in to LR and he would look at it but that I would have to buy a battery because they no longer keep extras for D80 users.  I told him I would go home first and get a battery.

Well guess what when I walked into my bedroom there laid the "Battery" that I thought I had put in my camera.  I put the "fresh" battery in the camera and It worked fine except it still did not focus perfectly.  I took it to Bedfords and I think my censors are wearing thin something of that sorts.

It was a beautiful day.  It got of to the 70's I'm sure.  Spring has sprung and I want to be out in the Wilderness taking as many photos as I can.  I hope you will not let this pollen keep you in.

Come join me in the WILDERNESS.

Waterfalls

Today we headed out toward our lake house in Hot Springs--taking care of some necessities.  We had to stop at the hardware store to get a few supplies and that took longer than expected.  Finally we made it there and decided it would be best to take care of our jobs and then go fishing  tomorrow.  The fishing didn't work out so we decided to head toward Little Missouri Falls and Crater of  Diamonds State Park. We decided to go to the Ouachita Vista which is close to our lake house but a large tree/stump had gotten caught at the bridge so we had to turn around.  We went through a town called Narmon and saw an old school/church ( looked to be over a 100 years old).  We stopped long enough to take a lot pictures of inside and outside.   Then we went to look for the falls.  We could see large amounts of water running in the creeks and knew that the falls were going to be full and running hard. While going down a gravel/dirt road, we came to a sudden halt, a tree had been washed up  and caught by another tree and since we did not have a chainsaw with us we had to turn around and go another way.  We kept following the creeks and found a nice waterfall close to the main road.  The water fall dropped about 4 to 5 feet and had a very large rock in the center diving the fall into a split making the water go into two directions and then there were several rocks where the water could run over them causing beautiful cascades.  This alone was worth the trip and then we headed on the the Little Missouri Falls.  This is a beautiful park and there is a real nice walkway and bridge to the falls and steps build down to the falls.  Its well worth the trip.  The falls are beautiful and that day it was running full with lots of cascades.  Its well worth the trip and the time it takes to walk down to the falls.  By the time we got to the Crater of Diamonds State Park it was after 5 and the park closes at 6.  There was a lot of information displayed concerning the Diamond Mines (its history) I was not interested in digging for diamonds so we left shortly thereafter.

I will try to post some of the photos within the next few days.

All in all it was a wonderful day in the Wilderness--My kind of day! ! !

April is here--where's Spring

Well April is here and I'm not sure Spring has sprung. True to form-- its raining and cloudy and cold. In a few days we are going to have some beautiful weather--temps and all.  There's not a lot we can do outside today but its a good day for catching up on paperwork ie: updating our photo files.

If you’re going out with the intention of photographing a specific type of animal, do a little
quick research before you head out. Knowing their habits can give you an edge when it
 comes to getting great photographs.

George Lepp Seminar & Spring Flowers

This past Saturday I attended the "George Lepp" seminar and just as the last 3 times
he did a terrific job.

He talked a lot about how the world of photography is changing and in a few years we will not take photos with a regular cameras but with a video type camera. When we want a still shot we will just make an adjustment or choose a shot and have it printed or sent somewheres.  The seminar lasted the whole day but it was well worth it.

For the past few weeks it has done nothing but rain and be cold.  I am ready (just as I sure a lot of folds are)for Spring.  Yesterday was a beautiful warm, sun shiny day and my husband and I planted lots of flowers.  If they all live we will have a beautiful yard which I think we already do anyway.  We went to a nursery called Gann's Garden and bought several plants and this was a lot cheaper than Home Depot or Walmart either one.  We planted at least one of each of these:  Monhiona, Sibernian Pea Shrub, Jacob's Ladder, Red Hot poker, Hellabore, Collenbian, Ivy, Nadinas, Rose of Sharon, Pink Garden Phlox, White Yarrow and a yellow Butterfly Bush.  You see what I mean!

Come the middle of April I will be shooting photos of all sorts of flowers and want have to leave my yard.  That will truly be a lot of fun in my Wilderness.  I wish you the best when you out in your "Wilderness"

Another Day

Today is Saturday and everything seems to be moving slow. Nothing seems to be getting done like I want it so that I can get some other things done that I've been wanting to do. The weather is not cooperating at all. I'm ready for Spring. Big Time. I know that all things have a season but I really need to live where the weather stays warm all the time; but, just think of all the things I would miss out on.

 Christmas decorations from my neighbors
yard-night light with red candy canes

My new pond in January 2013

The birds are really flying around a lot lately and I've seen lots of squirrels running in the yard carrying nuts with them--you think they might know something we don't.  This morning the geese landed in the back pond and that is so unusual for them.  The geese normally go to the front pond because I think the man feeds them out there and not at the back one but today that was not the case.  For some reason they seemed to want to swim in the back pond.

It was reported by one of my photography friend that the Swans have left Heber Springs and that's a shame because I was taking a group of folks to see them on March 2; but, it looks like we will be doing something else now.

This is the group that went to Jamaica.  As you can see there were quite a few of us.  We did a great job and I know there were a lot of folks who benefited from us coming over there.  We had 7 baptism and 49 bible studies.

Since I have returned from Jamaica. I have not been able to shoot any photos mostly due to the weather.  I bought a tent so that I could sit up in the yard and shoot at the birds but it has rained or sleeted nearly every day since or the temps have been in the 30s and 40s.  So whats a girl suppose to do.  I've trying to learn Lightroom 4 but so far I've not accomplished much.

Well I guess I'd better get off here I got to head for Searcy soon.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend in the Wilderness I know I will just as soon as the weather changes for the better.

Think positive! ! ! !

On March 9 my aunt and uncle will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I know they are going to have a grand party at there church and lots of people will be there--They deserve it. You'll never meet nicer folks.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Its been raining so much today You can't shoot photos when its like this or Can You!  Go to the closest florist shop and buy a variety of fresh flowers.  Find a piece of poster board or white wall for a background.  Using what every natural light you have.  Try several different poses, different backgrounds, different lights, different exposures.

The birds are really feeding today even in the rain.  Good day for shooting birds cleaning themselves or feeding.   Squirrels are out hunting in the leaves.  There's lots to shoot you just have to figure out what and how to shoot in certain conditions.  Check out some good books to read on days like this.  I did.

Yesterday I signed up for the George Lepp's seminar that coming to LR.  It will be held at the Peabody hotel on March 30.  It will be worth every penny.   I've been to two of his seminars and they were well worth it.

Tomorrow is my 3rd year anniversary.  We plan to go to Hot Springs for the day.  I don't want to go anywheres that would take more than a couple of hours to travel  I've been gone from home to much lately to want to go again.  As a matter of fact I just as soon stay home.

Hope you have a great day in the Wilderness.  Its not suppose to rain tomorrow!!!!  Yea!!!!

The Birds are back

Since my last post I've not only been to Mexico but I have been to Jamacia for a mission trip and I got a lot of "People" shots but no model releases.  I also got some good shots of fruit, children, goats and many other things associated with Jamacia.  It was very interesting and something I never thought I would do but as it turned out it was a good experience for me; and, yes something I would do again.

Last evening I was talking to a friend about a new camera she had purchased while I was gone and had also taken several classes that were offered along with the camera.  She seems to be frustrated by the camera but I think if given time she will master the camera and be pleased with the results.  It seems that one thing she learned from the class is that she must have a tripod in ordered to get those sharp-tack photos and that is one of things that we as photographer cannot stress enough everyone seems to think "OH I can hold a camera straight enough and don't need a tripod for it"  but they can't not even with the special lens.  Sure they can hold it almost perfectly steal but not quite it will show up in the photo.  So you see she is over the biggest hurled and with practice and time she will learn the rest.

Today birds were everywhere even in the wind.  I got my camera out and took several photos but none of them were as good as I wanted.  It was great to see the birds and know that spring is just around the corner.  There is lots to do before that and I can hardly wait.  Now is the hardest time for me because I love taking photos and I don't feel now is the time but it will soon be.  Now is the time to map out things and get your date book out and see what you found last Jan., Feb.  see what you can go back to the things you wrote down last year that you took photos of but for some reason the weather was not just right or the season or maybe you could not get close to it.  You see what I mean; now is time to make plans for the next few weeks.

Hope you have a good week and enjoy the Wilderness.

Now the Holidays are over

Its Monday the beginning of a new week. My slate is clean and its up to me to feel it up--where do I start.
Beginning in February I plan to choose a monthly topic and each week I will take a useful photo of that particular topic and post it here for you to view. You need to hold me accountable.

On January 1 I will be going to Mexico for a mission trip. I think my first subject will be “people”. That should be an interesting topic! So for the month of January I will shoot 4 photos of people doing different things or just doing nothing: at least, I will be shooting some photos.

Of course, with the Holidays here I will be having a lot of different folks around since we already have 4 different parties to go to--so maybe I should start this month and call the topic “party time” that sounds like fun. Ha! Ha! You see what I’m talking about -- I will have at least 4 good photos each month that maybe I can do something with.

This past weekend I went to Shannon Hills’ parade. I took lots of photos and got to talk to some nice folks and kids but the clown was not there this year. I was in hopes of getting a better photo of him even though I really like the one I took a couple of years ago. There was a pretty good turnout but I wish the mayor would put up a sign across the road like East End does.

The weather is going to get cold after today and I don’t care for cold weather but I plan to get out and shoot some photos of some old barns I saw while going to Fountain Hill on Sunday.

My “Wilderness” is the vast majority of Arkansas--It keeps me busy and I love it. See you in the Wilderness

I'm Back

Wow its been awhile since I 've been on here.  I hope you missed me.  I've been in Mexico.  I went on a mission trip for a week and it was cold-very cold there.  Temps did not get above 50 during the day and the low was around 31 at night.  The people do not have heat in there homes because their winter only last about 3 weeks.  We got our work done and proud to say that we had visitors to come to the services.

Next week I plan to go to Jamacia for a short trip.  I will have a couple of days to take photos but that would be OK if I only knew what lens to take and I can't take them all.

When I return I plan to start a "Subject" project.  I'm not sure I've told you about this but I plan to pick a subject and take several photos of that subject and post here for your opinion.  I hope you will do this for me.

Well I must go.  See you in the "Wilderness"
