Tim Ernest presentation

Oh!  what a wonderful time we all had at the Tim Ernest photography show.  I bet there was over 300 people there.  Its was beautiful all the photos he had.  He called it his 40 years of photography.  The music was perfectly Sync with photos.  People were buying his books, calendars, and Matted Photos.  I'd almost bet he didn't have enough to go around.  If you've never read the "Cloudland Journal" you should start.  It will inspire you to get out and take some photographs.  According to the presentation he has been doing this now for 40 years.

We all should be out in the "wilderness" shooting photos.  See you there.

Tim Ernest Presentation

OH! Whow!  Was it great.  Had lots of photos to show and the beautiful music he had sync to go with it.  If you weren't there you really did miss out.  He said this was his 40 years of photography.  Its hard to believe.  If you haven't read the "Cloudland Journal" you should start.  Not only does this Blog inspire you to do your best; it will give you lots of good tips and a little advise.  Teaches you to pay attention to what's going on around you and maybe even how to get yourself out of certain situations. I hope we will all get out and find something to photograph this weekend.

See you in the "Wilderness"

Getting ready for the Holidays

Today I've been reading different Blogs of fellow photography bloggers.  And I've learned a lot: things I've forgotten over the past few years.  You know "if you don't use it, you'll loose it"  Well I've seen to have done it.

I went looking for how to shoot night lights and what to look for.  Reflections seems to be a very popular subject with the Holiday Lights.  Many of your displays are near water and therefore you can get some nice reflections if know "How To Shoot".  That's what I plan to learn in the next 2 months.

I have set me up a table mount in my sunroom and gathered me some lights not just Christmas lights but extra lamps so I can learn how lights will affect my subject.  I also plan to do some silhouettes by sitting subjects in front of my light source and see if they become dark.  That should create some interesting subjects.  For the next few months I hope to learn to do this since I'm pretty much stuck inside.  You see I hurt my knee/leg and will not be able to go on uneven ground much so I must rest and take care of it so I can be ready for Spring.  My favorite time of the year.  Please check in later and get some good tidbits on how to shoot the "light" shots

Hope to give you some good information even though the "Wilderness" will be mostly indoors.

Have fun whatever you do and enjoy your photography.

Coming Home

Boy have I been traveling! ! !

I started this year out by going to Jamaica, then San Diageo, Cal; then to Italy; then to Spokane, Washington, then to Costa Rica,  We return from out trips on Aug 1, 2015 and Boy! does it feel good to be home.  We only had a few days in between each trip and on 3 of the trips we were gone as long as three weeks each.  But it was fun and not something I want to do again.  My husband and I took over 3 thousand photos that we actually kept.  Several of the trips were for mission work:  Italy, Costa Rica and Jamaica or combination of vacation and mission work.  The weather there in each of the places was much better than here.

I got to see several different animals/birds that I've never seen before and do a few things that I will probably never do again.

While traveling I read some material on how to set up blinds and How to get photos of wildlife I would love to do this.

Now that I'm back I plan to get into photography more than I've been in the past but I've got to learn to control my time.  It seems I never have time to just plan a photo session and follow threw with it.  I have some beautiful birds flying in my backyard that I would love to get pictures of especially this Redheaded Woodpecker and the hummers are really thick right now and I know how to set up for both-I just need to do it.

I plan to go to Michigan for the Fall.  I hear it is beautiful there during the Fall and we have family and friends there so we should be there for at least a week which should give me plenty of time.  Thanks goodness for our friend Terry who stays at our house and takes care of our dogs while we are gone.  There would be a lot of things we could not do if it wasn't for him being able to take care of things for us.

I also plan to go to Dallas, Tx next month--Boy I really have become a world traveler.

Well I must go and I do hope to see you out in the "Wilderness" soon.

New Dates fo MAPSYM

I've lived in Arkansas all my life--every where you turn there is natural beauty.  Now that I'm retired I love to travel and go to lots of different places.  I keep a log of theses and list the date of what I've found:  what flowers are blooming, the different monuments, special events etc.  You never know when you might get to go back and try to improve on what you've done.

I've always loved and enjoyed MAPSYM in Eureka Springs and its only held every other year.  Every since I've learned of it---I plan my meetings around it.  Well this year they have changed the dates drastically.  I will be in Italy.  When I made my plans I tried to get the dates for it but could not--no one knew anything.  So now I feel really "upset" about it. (I had to use a nice word). This would have been my 5th time to go.

The AOPC group is  going to give the horse racing trip a try one time.  They always do this on Sunday and to me that is sad. I prefer to be in church .  I am so thankful that that is what I choose to do.

Well this Sunday will be in the 70's so here to ya.  See you in the Wilderness! ! !

Days Lost

Its been a long time since I posted last.  I've been very busy traveling and I'm not done yet.  These last 5 months have been lots of fun but at the same so sad for me.  The weather is starting to change and at last Spring is almost here.  The trees are starting to put on new leaves and several different flowers are beginning to bloom.  I'm watching for the tulip trees to start blooming.  The Capitol building has lots of tulip trees on its grounds and you can get some really pretty shots of them.

Today is a very cloudy but cool day to be out taking pictures.  The finches are flying around everywhere.  Yesterday a hawk few into our yard and sat on tree branch for a log time,  If I'd had my camera sit up it would have made for a beautiful shot especially when he flew down to get something to eat.  But of course I did not.

Maybe now that Winter is over and Spring is on its way, I'll be seeing you in the Wilderness.  Happy Shooting!
