Another Day

Today is Saturday and everything seems to be moving slow. Nothing seems to be getting done like I want it so that I can get some other things done that I've been wanting to do. The weather is not cooperating at all. I'm ready for Spring. Big Time. I know that all things have a season but I really need to live where the weather stays warm all the time; but, just think of all the things I would miss out on.

My new pond in January 2013

The birds are really flying around a lot lately and I've seen lots of squirrels running in the yard carrying nuts with them--you think they might know something we don't.  This morning the geese landed in the back pond and that is so unusual for them.  The geese normally go to the front pond because I think the man feeds them out there and not at the back one but today that was not the case.  For some reason they seemed to want to swim in the back pond.

It was reported by one of my photography friend that the Swans have left Heber Springs and that's a shame because I was taking a group of folks to see them on March 2; but, it looks like we will be doing something else now.

This is the group that went to Jamaica.  As you can see there were quite a few of us.  We did a great job and I know there were a lot of folks who benefited from us coming over there.  We had 7 baptism and 49 bible studies.

Since I have returned from Jamaica. I have not been able to shoot any photos mostly due to the weather.  I bought a tent so that I could sit up in the yard and shoot at the birds but it has rained or sleeted nearly every day since or the temps have been in the 30s and 40s.  So whats a girl suppose to do.  I've trying to learn Lightroom 4 but so far I've not accomplished much.

Well I guess I'd better get off here I got to head for Searcy soon.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend in the Wilderness I know I will just as soon as the weather changes for the better.

Think positive! ! ! !

On March 9 my aunt and uncle will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I know they are going to have a grand party at there church and lots of people will be there--They deserve it. You'll never meet nicer folks.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Its been raining so much today You can't shoot photos when its like this or Can You!  Go to the closest florist shop and buy a variety of fresh flowers.  Find a piece of poster board or white wall for a background.  Using what every natural light you have.  Try several different poses, different backgrounds, different lights, different exposures.

The birds are really feeding today even in the rain.  Good day for shooting birds cleaning themselves or feeding.   Squirrels are out hunting in the leaves.  There's lots to shoot you just have to figure out what and how to shoot in certain conditions.  Check out some good books to read on days like this.  I did.

Yesterday I signed up for the George Lepp's seminar that coming to LR.  It will be held at the Peabody hotel on March 30.  It will be worth every penny.   I've been to two of his seminars and they were well worth it.

Tomorrow is my 3rd year anniversary.  We plan to go to Hot Springs for the day.  I don't want to go anywheres that would take more than a couple of hours to travel  I've been gone from home to much lately to want to go again.  As a matter of fact I just as soon stay home.

Hope you have a great day in the Wilderness.  Its not suppose to rain tomorrow!!!!  Yea!!!!

The Birds are back

Since my last post I've not only been to Mexico but I have been to Jamacia for a mission trip and I got a lot of "People" shots but no model releases.  I also got some good shots of fruit, children, goats and many other things associated with Jamacia.  It was very interesting and something I never thought I would do but as it turned out it was a good experience for me; and, yes something I would do again.

Last evening I was talking to a friend about a new camera she had purchased while I was gone and had also taken several classes that were offered along with the camera.  She seems to be frustrated by the camera but I think if given time she will master the camera and be pleased with the results.  It seems that one thing she learned from the class is that she must have a tripod in ordered to get those sharp-tack photos and that is one of things that we as photographer cannot stress enough everyone seems to think "OH I can hold a camera straight enough and don't need a tripod for it"  but they can't not even with the special lens.  Sure they can hold it almost perfectly steal but not quite it will show up in the photo.  So you see she is over the biggest hurled and with practice and time she will learn the rest.

Today birds were everywhere even in the wind.  I got my camera out and took several photos but none of them were as good as I wanted.  It was great to see the birds and know that spring is just around the corner.  There is lots to do before that and I can hardly wait.  Now is the hardest time for me because I love taking photos and I don't feel now is the time but it will soon be.  Now is the time to map out things and get your date book out and see what you found last Jan., Feb.  see what you can go back to the things you wrote down last year that you took photos of but for some reason the weather was not just right or the season or maybe you could not get close to it.  You see what I mean; now is time to make plans for the next few weeks.

Hope you have a good week and enjoy the Wilderness.
